The name comes from the Greek ichthys (fish), because the skin takes on an appearance similar to the scales of a fish.<\/p>\n

There are several forms of cutaneous ichthyosis, varying in severity and clinical manifestations. What does ichthyosis look like: symptoms<\/strong><\/h2>\n

– Extremely dry skin<\/strong> all over the body
\nContinuous skin desquamation<\/strong> with formation of whitish or grayish scales
\n– Thickening of the skin<\/strong>, especially on legs, arms, and abdomen
\n– Cracking and fissuring<\/strong>, particularly on palms of hands and soles of feet
\n– Itching<\/strong> and tightness of the skin<\/p>\n
